With SketchUp’s 3D modeling software, go from sketch to a shared foundation to shape and remake your design vision. Step 1 From the file menu, go to export > options > exports setups dwg/dxf. Designers want to inspire other creatives and communities with their work, but they often lack the tools to communicate and refine their vision. Use the fact that the importer converts geometry into components to your advantage to easily swap old for new. One of the biggest features of SketchUp 2023, and something that users have been waiting a long time, is the ability to import Revit projects into SketchUp. Method 2 Export to DWG Details: Uses Revit’s built-in DWG export feature. Both are helpful if you’ve moved parts of the model and when sharing models with consultants. Through its support for both Revit RVT reading and SketchUp SKP writing, FMEs data conversion technology enables you to migrate designs between the two. Side Note: I personally emailed SketchUp and they gave me the link to this forum and told me they do not know of a way, but they are very confident in the capabilities of this forum and many things can be accomplished here that are not accomplished by SketchUp Services. Re-import all or part of your Revit model into the SketchUp file you’ve already created. click the drop-down (bottom right) and select all supported types 4. Is there a way to link the Revit file with the SketchUp file so that when a change is made in Revit and exported to SketchUp, the materials are recognized and import into the SketchUp file? If the main Directlink model is Sketchup, then the Revit Model will be exported (from the Twinmotion tool ribbon in Revit) as an FBX model and imported into. ![]() But the export will have all the objects organized by layers which you can isolate and paint a new sketchup material. This is how the process works: We draft in Revit, export the model to SketchUp, (where it imports as a blank 3D object with no labeled materials), then we apply materials to the SketchUp model to give it color. We are talking about exporting a revit model to sketchup, when you open the exported model in sketchup everything will be set to sketchups default material (white). We use SketchUp to create renderings for our clients. ![]() The firm has chosen not to use Revit as the primary rending software.
